Jon Morosi of MLB Network said that the Yankees first baseman will enter free agency after declining his $16 million player option.

The four-time Gold Glove Award winner and three-time All-Star helped propel the Yankees to the playoffs.

After playing the first season of his career with the Padres, he was traded to the Cubs for a decade. He was part of the team that won the World Series.

The core of that team was broken up by the fire sale of the Cubs in 2021.

The Yankees were able to get a wild-card spot because of the work done by Rizzo. He signed a two-year, $32 million contract after the season.

He has a powerful bat, a good glove, and something left in the tank for whichever team picks him up.
