We've been hearing rumors for months, but there's almost a year to go until we get new models of the phone. It's looking like the iPhone 15 models could get more notable updates than we saw for the iPhone 14.

MacRumors readers know what to look forward to when it comes to the new features in the iPhone 15.

USB-C Port

The end of the Lightning port for the iPhone is predicted to happen in 2023. You will be able to charge your modern Mac, iPad, and iPhone all at the same time.

The European Union wants Apple to make a worldwide design change in order to make it easier to use.

According to rumors, Apple will make the change in 2023.

Solid State Volume and Power Buttons

Solid state volume and power buttons would be similar to the trackpad on Macs and the Home button on the iPhone, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Replacing the mechanical button press with the haptic feedback would give the feeling of a button press.

Apple could provide better water resistance by using solid state buttons. Adding new Taptic Engines would have to be done by Apple.

Dynamic Island for All Models

The Dynamic Island was introduced for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, while the cheaper model still uses a notch. If you want access to the Dynamic Island but don't want to pay for a Pro iPhone, you should wait for the iPhone 15.

Same Sizes

It looks like we're going to get the same sizes, since we haven't heard any design changes for the iPhone 15 lineup. The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro will measure in at 6.1 inches, the iPhone 15 Plus and Pro Max will measure in at 6.7 inches, and the iPad Pro will measure in at 6.1 inches.

Periscope Lens Technology

We've been hearing about Apple's work on periscope lens technology for a long time, and it could be the year that it's introduced. The zoom range available with a standard telephoto lens is less than the zoom range available with a Periscope lens.

5x or 10x optical zoom is possible with a periscope lens, up from 3x in the current iPhone 14 Pro models.

A Name Change?

According to Mark Gurman, Apple may replace the Pro Max version of the iPhone 15 with a new high-end model. It could give Apple an excuse to limit certain features to the highest end of the phone, like periscope lens technology.

The periscope lens could be limited to the largest phone.

3-Nanometer A17 Chip

TSMC is the supplier of the 3-nanometer chip for the iPhone 15 Pro. Processing performance is expected to increase by 10 to 15 percent, while power consumption is expected to decrease by up to 30 percent.

It would be an improvement over the A16. The A16 and A17 are expected to be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro. An upgrade to the prior- generation A16 is possible for the standard iPhones.

More RAM

Maybe the new capabilities of the periscope lens technology will lead to an increase in the amount of RAM in the iPhone 15 Pro models.
