The Air France-KLM Flying Blue loyalty program is going to be changed.
Good-value stopovers on award tickets are rare nowadays. Air Canada Aeroplan is one of the most popular exceptions. Air France-KLM Flying Blue is expected to add free stopovers on award tickets soon.
Flying Blue members in Northern Europe heard about this during a webinars.
More information should be available in the coming days, and I am getting the sense that it is very good.
It is my understanding that it will be possible on one-way awards booked at the lowest award levels. We should know more soon, and I will publish all the details once they are confirmed.
Flying Blue is a great program. The miles are easy to come by and the program has access to the most award space. American Express Membership rewards, Capital One, and Chase Ultimate rewards are transfer partners with Flying Blue.
We will have to wait for the full details, but the implications are great. You can travel from New York to Paris. It will be possible to have a stop in Paris. Are you traveling from Chicago to Cape Town? It will be possible to have a stop in Amsterdam.
It is fun to be able to stop in a city you want to visit if you want to break up a long trip.
