Twitter wasted little time firing half of its global employees, but the process was apparently so haphazard that the company now needs to rehire some of those it let go.

The widely reported 3,700, or 50% cuts to Twitter's global staff was referred to as "TheSnap" by the internal team. Many internet people pointed out that such a move would cause even more harm. Without 50% of the world's population, how can the remaining people maintain infrastructure like food, heating, and energy production?

It has been reported that Musk has run into the same dilemma with his own staff cuts that a "snapped" world might have. The company began reaching out to some of the people it fired, asking them to come back, according to a report by a tech writer. Some of the people the company let go were accidentally given the ax, and others were asked to return once the company realized they were needed to help build the new features Musk wants.

Gizmodo asked for comment, but did not get a reply.

Messages on the internal Slack channel included word from a supervisor who said they were in need of some assistance.

The reports were confirmed by anonymous sources with knowledge of the matter. One of the workers who was asked to return rejected the offer, according to Insider. The company is being sued by fired employees for not giving them 60 days notice.

Some workers didn't know they had been fired until they lost access to the company email and chat. According to a report, Musk has been trying to push some features on the remaining employees. Some of the features that were being worked on were given the boot. Musk is said to be more focused on getting features out the door than on running new features through internal and external tests.

CNN reported based on an internal source that full implementation of paid-for verification will be delayed until after Tuesday's elections in the U.S.

Musk wants to make money quickly. There is a sense of backsliding on the part of the company with the news that advertisers are losing money on the service. Advertising is the main source of revenue for the social networking site.

The platform is not likely to add more ethics teams in the near future. Most of the employees of the watchdog team were fired.
