Russia has interfered in US elections in the past, according to an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Prigozhin said in a post on the Russian social-media site that they were interfering and would continue to do so. We know how to do it in our own way.

In an apparent reference to the surgical nature of the operations, Prigozhin said that both the kidneys and the liver would be removed at once.

Prigozhin, who has been dubbed "Putin's chef" for securing valuable Kremlin Catering contracts, has been accused of attempts to subvert past US elections through his control of so-called "troll farms."

The Wagner Group is a mercenary organisation with fighters who played a key role in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Analysts say that Prigozhin has been trying to improve his reputation as a hardliner by attacking the generals responsible for the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.

The State Department offered a $10 million reward in July for information about Prigozhin, who was targeted for sanctions by the US and EU over his alleged involvement in attempts to subvert US elections.

Multiple US Congressional and intelligence reports have concluded that Russia has launched multiple attempts to interfere in US elections, most notably in 2016 when they say Russia supported the candidacy of Donald Trump.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that Russia was trying to influence the US elections.

Russia has never been accused of interfering in the US elections.
