Elon Musk Is Overloaded

If the leaders in China dislike Musk, it will be harder for him to operate in China. Government news sources complain that the platform labels its staff as "China state-affiliated media" and that the site recently disrupted China-based operations.

Since Musk announced his plan to acquire the micro-blogging site, the stock of the electric car maker has plummeted. Yoffie thinks that may be a sign that investors are concerned about his thinness. Musk slept at the factory when he rallied his workers in the face of a production problem. He might not be able to help in future crises. Yoffie says, "Elun is a micro-manager." He wouldn't have been able to give any attention to the company if he had bought the social networking site.

Musk is both the CEO and lead designer of the company. An official with NASA said last week that the craft could make its maiden voyage in December. The US Federal Aviation Administration has not yet approved the rocket for launch because it needs to make 75 changes to the spaceship.

Musk is entangled in politics as well. The company gave 20,000 Starlink satellite internet terminals to help keep the Ukrainian military and civilians online. By the end of the year, Musk said that the service could no longer be provided by his company. He reversed himself after bad press about the Starlink move. Musk found time to send out a peace plan for Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Musk denied that he had discussed the war in Ukraine with Putin, but he did say that they had talked about space.

The Boring Company and Neuralink have been less successful than Musk's other interests. Prototype tunnels were built in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, but plans to build underground links connecting New York and Washington, DC, and Chicago have been put on hold. The Boring Company accounted for about 2% to 3% of Musk's time. The idea of a hyperloop, a pressurized tube through which things can travel at high speed using magnetic levitation, was originally proposed by Musk, but his company has recently backed away from it. The site of the Los Angeles test tunnel was turned into a parking lot.
