Champions League draw balls
Four of the 16 teams left in the draw are English

The four English teams are waiting to find out their fate.

They are hoping to avoid one of the big teams in the seeding.

Some of the best and worst teams face each other.

We know who Manchester United could get in the competition.

  • How the group stages finished

How does the draw work?

The last-16 draw will be held in Switzerland.

The teams who won their groups will be drawn against each other. It's not possible to play a team from your own country.

The first and second legs of the last-16 will be held in February and March.

Who can face who?

Spurs celebrate
Tottenham won their group thanks to an injury-time winner against Marseille

The seeds are: Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Porto.

Unseeded are AC Milan, Club Bruges, Eintracht Frankfurt, Inter Milan, and LIVERPOOL.

The teams that finished second in their group will not face any of the teams that finished first in their group.

Since three of the eight teams are English and one of them won their group, there is only one place for the Reds to go in the next round.

Despite finishing third in the group stages, the Reds finished second.

Who are teams to watch out for in the top pot?

Liverpool react
Napoli smashed four goals past Liverpool in their first group meeting

There are two surprising names among the seeds, with Napoli and Benfica.

The only Spanish team in the last 16 are Real Madrid and they speak for themselves.

The only time they have lost all season is in the final group game when they were beaten by the Reds.

Several of the form players in Europe include Georgian sensation Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nigerian Victor Osimhen.

Benfica celebrate
Six of Benfica's nine away goals in this season's Champions League came against Maccabi

They snuck into the top seeds by the smallest margin in the history of the competition.

An injury-time sixth goal at Maccabi Haifa took them level on points with Paris St-Germain. In the group, they scored more away goals.

The only other team to win a group after losing their first two games is Porto.

There are only two players who have scored more than Mehdi Taremi.

The English teams hope to avoid facing some of the best players in the world.

Paris Saint-Germain, who have not lost a competitive game since March, looked like they were going to win the group.

AC Milan, Inter Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Leipzig all lost two times.

Inter knocked out Barcelona and Leipzig only finished behind Real.

Club Bruges, who were in the bottom seeds, made it to the knockout stage for the first time in their history.

After four games, the Belgian side had qualified, but failed to score in their final three games.

They are likely to be the team that the other teams want to draw.

What about the Europa League?

They will play one of the eight teams that finished third in their group in February.

Barcelona, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Sporting Lisbon are possible opponents.

The draw for the last 16 will take place on February 24.
