Musk said on Sunday that anyone who impersonates someone else on the platform will be banned from the service.

Musk said that the company used to give warnings to imitators to give them a chance to correct their actions, but that would not be the case anymore.

Previously, we issued a warning before suspending any accounts, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning.

This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue.

A number of users had changed their profile name to "Elon Musk" in protest at Musk's plan to change the verification system and allow anyone to get it.

KathyGriffin had her account suspended after changing her name to "Elon Musk". It is not known if the suspension will be permanent, as it appears her account was suspended before Musk posted his message.

When they heard that the company was taking action, they removed his name from their account.

Don't worry, he's still perfectly fine with anyone posting lies and irresponsible conspiracies, so all's good and makes sense

There is a woman with the word "bert" in it I think I made my point. I don't think I'm a 'trending' type of gal. Never have I wanted to be.

The new rules apply to those who impersonate Musk. Ian Woolford, a professor of Hindi in Australia, switched his profile picture to the one used by Musk and started using Hindi to talk about the recent shenanigans at the micro-blogging site. He failed to state that his account was a parody account.

The writer who currently has "not a parody" as part of her account name pointed out how the complexity of trying to run a social media site appears to be affecting Musk. On the day the deal went through, Gais shared a post titled, "How it started, how it's going", which featured a post by Musk 10 days prior.

According to multiple reports on Sunday, it has been confirmed that account verifications will be paused until after the election.

It is not clear whether the extra time will give the new top team pause for thought in how it is approaching the verification system.
