According to a report from October, the strict covid restrictions on the China-based factory that Apple uses to build its new iPhones could cause production to fall by 30 percent. The New York Times reported that during an outbreak with limited food and supplies, 200,000 workers were forced to stay in the building.

The company began making the base model of the phone in India in September.
