bumblebees pollinate, make honey and count, but they also like to throw a ball around Furry little insects like to play with toys, according to a new study. Any insect has been observed playing with an object. The researchers at Queen Mary University of London put wooden balls near the bumblebees so they could play. Many of them made a bee line for the balls, rolling them or doing somersaults while holding them.

It's possible that the bees can have positive feelings because they like to play. The authors said that younger bees seem to be more playful than older bees who are just trying to go about their day. They hope that the findings will make us care more about the little creatures and their habitats.
