Georgia opened the year with a big win against Oregon, but there was still a feeling that it wasn't all together. They had a close call against Missouri and a slow start against Kent State.

Kirby Smart's team sent a message. Georgia had a 24-6 lead at the half.

Matt Hinton @MattRHinton

pretty much a perfect half for Georgia and in very Georgia fashion: dominant in all three phases with about a dozen different guys making one or two plays each

The high-powered Tennessee offense was held to less than 300 total yards by the bulldogs.

If Georgia runs the table in the regular season, it should get a spot in the semifinals of the College Football Playoffs.

The playoff door may remain open for the Vols thanks to the two teams.

If Tennessee and LSU both finish with one loss, the committee might have a hard time selling a two-loss Alabama or LSU in the playoffs.

The news was good for Oregon and TCU.

The Frogs were listed as the lowest ranked Power Five team by the committee. Ohio State and Michigan are both guaranteed to have at least one loss.

The Playoff Committee is reportedly considering canceling the CFP and simply giving the natty to Georgia, citing growing concerns that they might have to put TCU in.

Tennessee had a loss to Georgia that was more one-sided than the one Oregon had. In a head-to-head tie with the Vols, the Ducks would probably get the nod because of the improvements they've made.

Dan Wolken @DanWolken

There's a lot to play out. Oregon had an awful Week 1 with a new coach, new QB and flying cross country to play a road game. But that is a pretty good team, probably more talented roster than Tennessee. If they win a conference title that will matter. https://t.co/fjAv9fOR3D

If the status quo holds, the next set of rankings will show how the committee could view the top four.

The schedule doesn't make you think there will be a lot of chaos.

The Alabama-Ole Miss game should be fun to watch, but may have little impact on the playoff race.

The Longhorns are fresh off a win over Kansas State. The committee would be sent a clear message if the Longhorns were to lose in Austin.
