Andy Serkis as Kino Loy in Star Wars: Andor.

The cast of Andor has been a big reason why the show has been so good over the past month and a half. In each of the arcs thus far, Diego Luna has drawn in a variety of different characters who are trying to get by under the Empires rule. The most recent one saw Cassian as an inmates on the prison colony Narkina 5, where he had a good time with fellow inmates. The actor/director made his Star Wars debut with the Sequel trilogy as Emperor Snoke and it seemed like he was going to be the Palpatine before he was cut in half during The Last Jedi. Let's not get into him being aPalpatine husk.

Serkis talked about his return to the franchise and his brief Snoke time. He told Slashfilm that he was hesitant to join the show when he was offered it. He was worried about fueling fan theories, but his favorite movie was the one he loved the most. He said that the world of the "Rogue One" felt like it was real and human. This is more about the gray areas of the "Star Wars" universe than the world that Snoke lives in.

Serkis admitted that he felt less pressure with this show than the films. His inclusion in the show was a complete secret, thus eliminating any speculation that could have created a false sense of promise when he showed up. He said that nobody knew about him. There was no pressure in regards to it being out there. It was a good thing that it wasn't announced earlier. It is a nice surprise for everyone.

According to Serkis, Kino was the show owner that was fighting for labor rights and unionization when he was taken in by the Empire. Serkis said that he lost his desire to help others while in prison. Do his time and leave.

Yes, about that.

In the first episode of Narkina 5, Kino Loy is portrayed as a hardass who just wants the prisoners' construction operation to go smoothly as his sentence winds down. In last week's episode, " Nobody's Listening!," Cassian tries to get Kino in on a prison break he's cooking up with other inmates, while Kino tries to stay out of it. The prison guards' authority on the inmates starts to wear down as the episode goes on. Once he learns his sentence ending will just result in him being transferred to another level of the prison, he will join Cassian in his prison break. It will never be more than twelve.

Serkis praised the writing of Beau Willimon, the creator of House of Cards, as well as the writing of the Narkina 5 arcs. He said that Kino has kept his eye so focused on getting out to the point that a prison break or questioning if he'd even leave was never something he thought about. Serkis said that having that ingrained in his mind is intolerable to him. He can stop thinking about himself and his release when he uses atrigger switch. He starts to think about how he can help out with a journey out of there.

The Empire and Andor have both suffered losses at the end of the Andor arcs, but some, like Vel and Cinta, have survived. The character is up there in a cast that has been stacked with strong characterization and excellent performances.

New episodes of Andor will be on Disney Plus.
