Jim McIngvale, better known asMattress Mack, won $75 million on Saturday after his bet that the Astros would win the World Series paid off.
McIngvale bet $10 million in May that the Astros would win the World Series, with an average of 7.5-1 odds.
The Astros won the World Series in six games on Saturday, and footage on social media showed McIngvale celebrating from his front-row seat.
McIngvale joked about heading straight to Las Vegas after winning $75 million, but it seems he hasn't cashed the money out yet.
McIngvale had to place bets in other states because Texas is against sports betting. He made a $3 million wager in May when he parked his car in front of a Subway shop.
McIngvale has made a number of high-dollar bets over the years, many of which are used to hedge against promotions at his three Houston-area furniture stores. McIngvale told Forbes in October that he had sold $73 million of mattresses with a promotion that allowed any customer who spent more than $2,500 on a mattress to receive it for free. Customers were offered double their money back in the summer. McIngvale lost a lot of money on the Super Bowl bet, but he still sold a lot of furniture thanks to a promotion that promised to give refunds if the Cincinnati team won.
Mattress Mack has appeared in commercials for McIngvale's stores in the Houston area for many years. After opening up his stores as a shelter during Hurricane Harvey, he was praised by many.
If the Astros win the World Series, mattress Mack will make a record $75 million in one year.
The reported cashouts for the Houston Astros bet have declined.
