As the band accepted the honor, the good news quickly turned bad. The group gave an acceptance speech at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Andy Taylor wasn't present. Taylor was MIA because he had a problem with his treatment. Taylor wrote a letter explaining his health issues. Four years ago I was diagnosed with a stage 4 cancer. Many families have experienced the slow burn of this disease and so I speak from the perspective of a family man but with profound humility to the band, the greatest fans a group could have and this exceptional accolade. After the ceremony, Taylor's entire letter was posted on the band's website, giving more information about his diagnosis. There is no cure for my current condition. Le Bon told the press that he was devastated to learn that one of his family members was going to be gone for a long time. He came to an end. We love him very much. I'm not going to stand here and cry or anything, but that's what I feel like. The band had several chart-topping hits in the 1980's. The band won a gramophone for best video in 1984 for their song "Hungry Like a Wolf." The James Bond film's soundtrack was recorded.
