Elon Musk Begins Charging $7.99 Fee To Twitter Users

Musk is trying to lure other customers with a celebrity sales pitch.

A month after purchasing the social media giant, Musk has launched a new service for users with verified accounts.

Saturday's announcement of the move was made to appeal to the mass.

The statement started. If you sign up now, you'll get a blue account. The power to the people is blue. The blue checkmark on your account is similar to the celebrities, companies and politicians you follow.

The company said it would cut half the ads and make the rest better. We're going to reward you with half the ads and make them twice as relevant since you're supporting us in the battle against the bots.

Users will be given priority rankings for quality content in the form of replies, mentions and searches if they post extended videos.

Musk is hoping that by charging the monthly user fee he can offset the losses he has incurred since his purchase of the micro-blogging site.

Half of the company's 3,700 employees are going to be fired due to the company's $4 million a day loss.

The class action lawsuit was filed by the workers because they were not given enough notice that they would be laid off.

Musk gave the laid off workers 3 months of severance pay, which he claimed was 50% more than required.
