The parent company of Surface Magazine is trying to recover more than $150,000 over missed payments for a rental space.

A large-scale but unknown recording project was rented by the rapper in January.

Steven Victor, the manager of Ye, is one of the people named in the lawsuit.

Surface Area, a showroom that sells art, design objects, and furniture, was contacted by the group in January. The space was supposed to be rented for a month.

Tailoring the decor to his desired color scheme was one of the special requirements that Ye had. More than $50 million worth of furniture, artwork, and design objects were removed from the space.

According to the lawsuit, the rapper and his team signed an agreement with the venue for a 25-day rental of $125,000, expenses of $20,000, and four new office chairs for $813. The defendants in the lawsuit brought sound equipment into the space before paying.

Ye and his team received an invoice from the company on January 7. He didn't pay any amounts at all. The company is seeking reimbursement for the lawsuit fees.

Representatives for both Ye and Surface Media did not reply to Insider's request for comment.

Following antisemitic comments he made, the rapper has been under a lot of scrutiny. Vogue and Adidas have stopped doing business with the singer.
