Harry Bradbeer told Insider that he almost had to cut one of the lines from the movie out of fear that it was too modern.
Brown plays the character of Enola in the new movie. In addition to playing Enola in this film and the first in the series, Brown has also been a producer on both of them.
Bradbeer said that one of the improvised scenes from the movie almost didn't make it into the final product.
When she said crazy idea, have you ever considered a roommate? I thought it was anachronistic. Nobody would have said that at that time.
Bradbeer realized that the term "Crazy" existed prior to the film's Victorian-era setting and could be seen in the film, even if he didn't think it looked like a girl. He thought that Brown was a little too contemporary in her way and brought it up with her.
In the film's official press notes, Brown said that Bradbeer would sometimes ask her if she had just given a performance as "Millie or Enola."
Bradbeer told Insider that many of Brown's ideas were in line with the character and that he found her instincts valuable while working on the movie.
Bradbeer thought if he was Enola he would do that. It's always the question.
