Some teams want to make it even more busy after the busiest trade deadline day in football history. The trade deadline could be pushed back from its current spot after Week 8 to after Week 10 or Week 12 according to league sources. The issue is expected to be raised at the NFL's general manager committee meetings later this month, and then could be voted on at the league's owners meetings in the spring. The trade deadline would be pushed back in line with what the league has done recently. The league has made veteran players eligible for the practice squad, changed the rules for injured reserve and returned players from IR. Teams would have more clarity about their chances of making the playoffs if there was a later trade deadline. The 2012 trade deadline was pushed back two weeks from the Tuesday after Week 6 to the Tuesday after Week 8 in an effort to encourage trades. The owners were worried that there would be too much roster movement if the date was moved further.
