Pakistan secured their place in the semi-finals of the Men's T20 World Cup with a five-run win over Bangladesh.

Chasing 128 to win, they made hard work of it, but Mohammad Haris' 31 off 18 balls proved to be the difference.

The loser of the South Africa-Netherlands game would join India in the semifinals.

They lost their first two Super 12 games but have since turned it around.

After defeats by India and Zimbabwe, there was a return to form for the left-arm pace bowler, who finished with 4-22.

Pakistan's usually dynamic opening partnership is struggling for consistency.

The opening pair of Babar and Mohammad Rizwan were dropped by the bowler before scoring.

Pakistan captain Babar was happy with theNetherlands win. We are staying together. We will talk about our mistakes and positive things.

India's game against Zimbabwe will determine the make-up of the semi-finals. Pakistan would play New Zealand in Australia on Wednesday while India would play England in Australia on Thursday. If India and Pakistan lost, they would swap places.

After the Netherlands' shock victory, both teams knew a win would see them progress, having gone into the day knowing they needed the other team to lose.

Bangladesh built a nice platform of 73-1 after 10 overs, despite some early nerves from both sides.

In the 11th over of Soumya Sarkar and Shakib Al Hasan, they were both given out LBW, which opened the game up for Pakistan.

They were able to squeeze Bangladesh because of that. They were flawless in their fielding and catching, which resulted in them limiting the tigers to 127-8.

The chase wasn't normal. Babar and Rizwan's batting may be in trouble against better opposition.

Both fell in a row, leaving Bangladesh a path back into the game.

Haris hit two leg-side sixes to break the back of the chase as the scenario of 59 needed off 48 balls looked difficult on a slow pitch.

He was dismissed with seven still required, but Shan Masood showed a calm head to get Pakistan over the line.

The captain of Bangladesh said that they wanted to get somewhere around 146 at the half way point.

This is the best performance we have had in the tournament. This is the least we could expect and we could have done better.
