South Africa were knocked out of the Men's T20 World Cup after being defeated by 13 runs by the Netherlands.

South Africa lost regular wickets on a tricky pitch and were tied down by an inspired Dutch team.

The loser of the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will leapfrog the Proteas and progress to the next round, where they will face India.

The result in Adelaide is the biggest shock of the tournament.

South Africa and the Netherlands are the lowest ranked teams in the Super 12 stage.

Temba Bavuma said that they played well up until this point.

We didn't do well when it mattered the most. It will be difficult to digest.

It was not good enough.

South Africa crumble under pressure again

South Africa's struggles under pressure on the biggest stage have been well known.

They started poorly with the ball - Stephan Myburgh and Max O'Dowd capitalised on faulty bowling to add 58 for the firstwicket - and, after dragging things back in the middle, they allowed Netherlands to finish well as Colin Ackermann struck two sixes in the final over off

Temba Bavuma's decision to chase was not a good one.

After Rilee Roussow holing out in the deep and Bavuma bowling around his legs, scoring became harder and harder on a slow surface.

The Netherlands were outstanding. Their fielders were great at denying twos and South Africa boundaries.

The catch from van der Merwe, who played 26 times for South Africa before moving to the Netherlands, was one of the highlights of the game.

Miller top-edged a pull off seamer Brandon Glover and Van der Merwe ran back from short fine leg before sliding to take the ball in two hands

The game was down when South Africa needed 47 from 28 balls.

The Pakistan fans, who arrived early for their side's match on the same ground, were very loud in their support of thewickets. Pakistan started the tournament with two losses, but now have a chance of making the last four.

If Bangladesh and Zimbabwe don't win later in the day, the Netherlands will qualify for the T20 World Cup.
