Home depot workers in Philadelphia voted against unionizing in an election held this week, turning back an effort to form the home improvement chain's first organized store
The Home Depot Workers United union lost a vote by the National Labor Relations Board. The union has a week to challenge the results.
The company does not have a union at all of its stores in the US. In Philadelphia, the company flooded the store with managers in order to weaken union support.
Before the vote count, the chain told The Huffington Post that they don't believe it's the best solution for their associates.
Vince was the leader of the union effort. The board requires signatures from at least 30% of the would-be bargaining unit if an election is to be held.
After he filed for the election, he told HuffPost that he felt like a union was necessary because the store's employees were not paid enough.

There has been a rise in workplace organizing in the U.S. In the past fiscal year, workers filed more union election petitions than any other time. The first unions at a number of big-name employers were created by them.
The Home Depot union effort was a new, independent campaign that was not affiliated with a labor group. The advantages of such campaigns are counterbalanced by the lack of organizing staff that traditional unions have.
The independent Amazon Labor Union won a historic vote at the tech giant's Staten Island warehouse earlier this year. Trader Joe's United won its first two elections but lost a vote at a store in Brooklyn.
More than 200 Starbucks stores have been organized by the union Workers United. The coffee chain used to have no unions at its US stores. Workers United members are attempting to negotiate their first contracts.
The success of those other campaigns made him want to take on his employer.
