Hundreds of Russians were killed when a Ukrainian strike destroyed a battalion of conscripts from Russia.

The surviving Russian soldier and his family were cited by Verstka.

The Russian serviceman told Verstka about the losses among the conscripts as a result of the Ukrainian attack on the contact line. The number of people killed may be higher than 500.

According to Agafonov, the commander of the battalion of conscripts promised that the soldiers would join the "territorial defence" 15 kilometres away from the front line. The entire battalion was ordered to hold the line of defence on the night of November 2nd.

Agafonov said that they were dumped into the forest and only had three shovels for the battalion. The Ukrainian attack began in the morning. We were just shot by Ukrainian forces who used a variety of weapons.

The officers ran away when it began. We tried to fight back, but the copters spotted us and killed us. 29 people survived, 12 were wounded, and the rest are dead.

At least one other battalion of conscripts was destroyed prior to this incident.

The conscripts who are dumped on the front line in Luhansk Oblast are depicted in a beautiful picture on Russian TV. When we fled, we didn't see any officers, but when we retreated, we saw that only contract soldiers and volunteers were on the third line.

In order to close the gaps in the defence, conscripts from all over Russia are being brought to the area. There are groups of 2 to 5 people from other destroyed battalions who are just wandering around. The territory where the conscripts fought has been cleared by the Ukrainians.

Verstka was told about the hundreds of soldiers killed. She cited her husband as saying that more than half of thescripts died.

Verstka's information was confirmed by the wife of a conscript who survived.

My husband called me in the morning to tell me that they were left to dig the defence line, came under mortar fire, and somehow managed to get from Krasnodon to Svatove. They are afraid to go anywhere because they are afraid of being caught at the checkpoint. They call for help because their commanders abandoned them and they don't know what to do.

The relatives of conscripts who had come under fire held a protest near the building of the prosecutor's office, demanding to be told the truth about their family members.

Theauthorities tell us that our sons are safe and sound. Oksana Kholodova is the mother of a soldier who was killed in the line of duty.

The wife of a draftee told Verstka that the surviving conscripts want to go home. The people are being bombed there. There are no officers there. They were not trained or anything. Anna said that her husband and she have a daughter.

The people present at the Prosecutor's Office in Voronezh recorded a video message and appealed for help.
