Flightline overtook Life Is Good entering the top of the stretch and went on to win the $6 million Breeders' Cup Classic by 814 lengths.
The 4-year-old bay colt entered the Grade 1 race with an average victory margin of nearly 13 lengths and was the overwhelming favorite over the eight- horse field that included Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike. Flightline ran in close proximity of Life Is Good through the far turn but moved up the road.
After passing Life Is Good at the stretch, the student grew a 2-length gap. Olympiad overtook Life Is Good as Bob Baffert's Taiba gained, though both were far behind the horse who has earned lofty comparisons to a Triple Crown champion.
Flightline covered the 114 mile in 2:00.05 and paid a total of $2.98 and $2.30
Olympiad got $12.38 and $7.16 for place, and Taiba got $4 to show.
Malathaat provided the most exciting finish of the day when she won the $2 million Distaff by a nose over the other two horses.
Malathaat caught Blue Stripe at the wire.
Malathaat paid $7.76, $4.06 and $3 for her fourth win of the year and 10th of her career. Malathaat's stablemate Blue Stripe was second, 314 lengths behind the winner of the race.
