The Astros will be without first baseman Yuli Gurriel for the remainder of the World Series after he injured his knee in the fifth game.

Gurriel had tears in his eyes but he wasn't crying. He wanted to play so badly. We replaced him because we couldn't do it.

Gurriel took a knee to his head after colliding with the first baseman during a rundown between third and home plate in the seventh. There was a hit for Gurriel in the 8th.

He tried everything. He was treated yesterday. Came in this morning and was treated. Didn't respond quickly enough to play. He ran. The hardest thing to do for a guy with a knee injury is to stop.

James Click said Gurriel had a knee injury.

In Game 6 of the World Series, he was batting seventh and starting at first base. Christian Vzquez hit sixth.

The World Series is tied at 2-2. The Astros considered leaving Gurriel on the roster if he wasn't feeling well on Sunday.

Clicks said that it was obvious that he wouldn't be available today or tomorrow. If we end up playing tomorrow, we might have to wait a day or two to see if he's available. That wasn't possible because of the diagnosis.

In the playoffs, Gurriel hit.347 with two homers and four runs scored.

"Yuli's been one of our best hitters in the playoffs, so it stinks not having him."

Four hours before the game, Lee was called into Baker's office by his supervisor. The Lee family had flown in to watch the game.

Lee didn't tell them yet. When they get here, hopefully they're going to be surprised.

Lee made his major league debut on July 1st. In 12 games with the Astros from July 1 to July 31, he hit.160 (4 for 25) with fourRBIs.

Lee thought it was unbelievable. It's a dream.

That's right.
