17 alleged Ga. gang members facing 136 charges from murder to drugs, arson

The 17 alleged gang members were indicted on Thursday.

The suspects are members of the 1-8 Trey Bloods, a Bronx based group.

Evidence was presented to a Barrow County grand jury. The suspects are accused of conspiring to violate the RICO act.

In Georgia, the charges stem from incidents in Athens-Clarke, Barrow, Bulloch, Candler, Chattooga, Fulton, Gwinnett, Laurens, Monroe and Walton.

An alleged national leader of the 183 Gangster Bloods is identified as a 49-year-old man. He is in a New York state prison. The leader of the gang is named Jamar Ramsey. He was sentenced to life in prison for a 2006 murder. He is in a state prison.

The men are accused of directing other defendants to commit crimes while they were in prison. There are 15 other defendants.

Four of the defendants are charged with more crimes.

Sims is charged with murder, two counts of felony murder, five counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, purchase of marijuana, and possession of a firearm during a felony.

Harvey is facing four counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, sale of marijuana, having illegal substances within 1000 feet of a housing project, and sale of cocaine.

Ramsey and Wiseman are accused of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.
