The chaos surrounding Musk's takeover of the micro-blogging site continued after the tech billionaire seemingly threatened advertisers.
Musk said that companies that have paused their advertising as they wait to see what happens under his leadership will get a "thermonuclear name and shame." Mike Davis, the former chief counsel for nominations to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, suggested that Musk list the dissenters in an effort to start a counter-boycott.

Musk wrote an open letter to advertisers assuring them that the platform wouldn't become a free-for-all hellscape. General GM, Volkswagen, and Pfizer are just a few of the companies that have paused their advertising on the social networking site.
