The Prado museum officials said that the protesters caused light flaws to the frames but no damage to the paintings, and that they reject endangering cultural heritage as a means of protest.

The two protesters, who are part of an activist organization, wrote a reference to the Paris Climate Agreement on the wall of their protest.

Four activists with the group Ultima Generazione threw soup at van Gogh's painting " The Sower" at the Palazzo Bonaparte museum in Rome, while museum officials said the painting's glass screen protected it from any damages.

Activists argue that the effects of climate change will outweigh the damage a priceless painting might do in the protests.
