I have been knocked out before half-time in both of the games I've played.

Kevin Brown knows how difficult the Rugby League World Cup will be.

It will be one of the most physical games of a player's career when the teams meet.

The hard work begins for Wane's team now that England has finished their World Cup group.

The Kumuls will face the hosts in Wigan on Saturday after the hosts easily won all three pool games.

The two members of the England team who reached the World Cup final got a first-hand look into facing "brutal" PNG when they were spoken to by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

'PNG are physical but intelligent too'

After winning over the Cook Islands and Wales, they will look to dominate the rest of the group.

England have a lot of work to be done. I think this is the best part of the country. I can vouch for the quality of the team because they have always been that brutal and physical.

Something changes in those players when they wear a shirt like that. They get stronger as they get taller. They are throwing more into it. Technical brilliance, pace and intelligence are some of the things they have this year. They base their game on brutal nature and this shows.

TheLeigh Leopards team-mates are so fast and elusive out of dummy half that they add another dimension. There are a lot of threats.

The England squad has shown outstanding line speed in defence so far. England will need to weather the storm and give some back. England will win the match as the match progresses.

The England team is very good. It has a good balance with youth and experience. The England team is one of the best I have seen in a long time. You can see what Wane has been working on with the team and how they play.

'Put your chin down and bite your gumshield'

Kevin Brown
Brown was left flattened twice by PNG players during his international career

This will be the fourth international meeting between the two sides, with England coming out on top in all three previous encounters, and at the same stage of the competition five years ago.

The only country in the world where rugby league is their national sport was able to beat the Great Britain Lions.

The arrogance in my head made me think that it wouldn't be as bad as that. I was hit in the face with a flying tackle during the game.

It was worse than I thought it would be when I woke up. They are from all over the place. There is a lot of aggression. A few of the guys said that when they play PNG, they take their chin down and bite down on their gum shield because they know they are going to get hit.

It was one of the most physical games I have participated in. The players gave it to us in the hostile environment. The energy they brought was much better than ours.

The pack needs to match that energy on Saturday. They need to sleep early. It was a difficult game in 2019. We didn't give up, we just weren't good enough.

'Young and Radley are killing it'

An extra edge has been added to the England squad by the addition of three players from Australia's National Rugby League.

One of the tournament's star performers has been Dominic Young of the Knights who has eight tries.

The rugby players are all English. They went to Australia to see if they could do it. People thought it was a crazy move for Young to leave his hometown and now he is a superstar.

It's the same with him. He did well even though Wigan wanted to sign him. Victor radley is one of the best players in the game. He could have ended up playing for Australia.

The headaches Wane has is great because he has so many quality players to pick from but those three give confidence to the rest of the team.

There are two people killing it. A lot of the good things in attack and defence come through him. He is a great addition to England.

If England win the World Cup, he will be crucial. It will have a huge impact on the team if he gets injured. He digs into the line to set the tone for the defense. He is tough but also smart.
