Things are not going well in New Hampshire.

Republican Don Bolduc, a retired Army general who has advocated conspiracy theories about vaccines, the 2020 presidential election and cat litter boxes in schools, is threatening to pull off a major upset against incumbent Sen.

At a campaign stop on Thursday, Bolduc said, "The momentum is ours."

Before votes are even counted in larger battleground states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Nevada, a GOP win here would serve as an early bellwether.

The Democrats are not taking anything for granted. Elizabeth Warren is one of the progressive star power from Massachusetts that has been enlisted by Hassan to get young people to vote. Pete Buttigieg is the transportation secretary.

Franklin, a small town trying to recover in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic, has a store in downtown that sells hedgehogs and accessories. The owner claimed that it was the only store in the country.

Taking careful care to avoid its sharp quills, Hassan cradled an adorable black-and-white hedgehog in her hands and talked up her bipartisan credentials as well as the federal spending she's helped steer for businesses and new infrastructure in New Hampshire.

She told the customer that she had worked to get some federal funds that would help the projects come together.

At a store in Franklin, New Hampshire, the two senators talked about some of the thornier issues. The photo is from the Huffington Post.

The woman said she was a Republican because she saw the senator's ads on TV. Democrats have attacked Bolduc over abortion, his election denial and the future of social security. Outside groups have helped him in the final days of the race.

The TV onslaught was the reason for the apology.

The two senators headed out the door to continue their tour of the town.

The woman said she moved to New Hampshire from California. She told The Huffington Post that she is going to vote forBolduc. Walsh said that he votes pro-life.

In the wake of the Supreme Court's repeal of Wade, Democrats have been running ads about abortion. Abortion is legal in New Hampshire up to 24 weeks. Bolduc has been careful not to back a national abortion ban like some other GOP Senate candidates, while Hassan has argued that he can't be trusted on the issue because of his opposition to abortion.

"He has been trying to cover up his extreme record, but at the end of the day Granite Staters are sophisticated, informed voters and they know dishonesty when they see it."

The Democratic Party is worried about their strategy of focusing on issues like abortion and the future of democracy instead of getting more aggressive on the economy due to the increased enthusiasm for Republican candidates.

It would be malpractice for Democrats to ignore the state of the economy and allow Republican lies and distortions to go unanswered if the abortion issue remained on the forefront.

The cost of heating oil and food ahead of the coming winter is the central issue of the campaign for Bolduc. Republicans are hoping that the economic argument will carry them to a majority in both houses of Congress.

The GOP candidate played up a false anti-trans, right-wing stereotype about students at schools using litter boxes and licking one another as part of a subculture known as "furries." On the campaign trail, he railing against public education and complaining about lessons about race and gender.

He said at an event last week that they were putting litter boxes. I wish this wasn't real but it is.

The New Hampshire school where he said this was happening has denied the story. He was asked if he tried to verify his talking point.

Different subjects come up when you talk to people at town halls. He said that's all that is. The education system is broken. What is happening in our classroom is not right. It's not appropriate.

The rhetoric against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer community is gaining traction withBolduc's supporters.

I'm female. You are a person. "Why do they have a problem saying 'woman' and'man'?" asked a retired accountant. There are women and men in the Olympics.

In an interview with HuffPost, Hassan criticized Bolduc for spreading a "really harmful conspiracy theory" and compared it to his previous election denialism.

The elimination of the FBI and the Department of Education is one of the things that Bolduc supports. He called Sununu a Chinese Communist sympathizer. The two patched things up, and Sununu's popularity at the top of the ticket could be the difference in the election.

After defeating GOP Sen. Kelly Ayotte, Hassan was elected to the Senate. She has kept a low profile during her time in office, voting mostly in lockstep with her fellow Democrats. She criticized the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan and called for more border security as she tried to distance herself from Biden.

Biden has stayed away from New Hampshire because of his low approval rating.

The kind of voters Democrats are desperately trying to get to the polls on Tuesday are the kind of people Warren was allowed to speak to at the University of NH. She told the crowd that if they lost the seat, they'd have to make McConnell the majority leader again.

There is a lot on the line. We can either whine, or we can fight back. What do you think about me? I'm trying to fight back.
