Mother is the word when it comes to the future of Judge and the Yankees.
Cashman wouldn't say if he's been in a new deal with Judge's representatives. Cashman didn't downplay the importance of Judge to the organization's plans for the future.
Cashman said during the news conference that he is a fan favorite. He is very friendly with our fans. He handles his business as well as possible. If not the best player, he is an elite performer. Those are the type of players you want to keep and have as long as possible.
One of the biggest contracts in baseball history is on the table for Judge, who hit.311/.450/.686 with 62 homers and 131 runs scored in his first season with the Yankees.
Hal Steinbrenner will be looking at the market for Judge to see what kind of commitment the team will make moving forward. The amount of money the Yankees would be willing to commit to a long-term contract depends on the fact that Judge is a fan favorite.
George Steinbrenner said that he put fannies in the seats. Cashman made a statement. You want to put great teams on the field so people can come and watch them compete and win. When a player has the ball in their hand or at the plate, things stop. He's a type of talent.
The Yankees' offseason will be affected by whether or not Judge returns. The front office is planning contingency plans if the team can't sign Judge and if they can't, if they can't sign another player.
Cashman said that the judge would dictate the dance steps to his free agency, so we'll see how it goes. He's not the only guy that we need to deal with. If he came in today and said, "Oh, man, I'm signing up, let's go," there would still be a lot of work to be done.

"I hope he's a yankee for the rest of his life," he said. Hopefully that all works out, I can't think of a better guy to lead your team and your organization. I'm talking to him through the winter and hope that it works out. That is above me.
Cashman's future with the organization is still up in the air. Cashman's contract expired at the end of October, but he still works for the team. He said he was told by Steinbrenner that there was interest in keeping him with the team despite not having a contract.
Cashman's focus remains on making the Yankees a better team, winning the World Series and shaping the team's plans for how to do that with or without Judge.
"We need to deal with a lot of other ones to put ourselves in a better position to navigate not just the Astros, but every other up-and-comer that is pushing their way into the mix to represent the American League in the World Series next year," Cash We want that to be us, but we haven't been able to get it done.
Regardless of the acknowledgement that Judge is an important piece here, he's one of many that we hope to accomplish in different forms and styles.
