The Apple TV 4K is a bit lighter and thinner than the second generation model. If they are side-by-side, you can see the difference.

There's a much faster A15 chip that offers up to a 50 percent improvement in CPU performance and up to a 30 percent improvement in graphics performance compared to the A12 chip in the previous model. It depends on what you do with your Apple TV.

If you play graphics intensive games, you can see a lot of improvement, but it should speed up animations, app load times, and more. The base storage on the updated models is 64GB and there is an upgrade option to 128GB.

Apple has added support for the newer version of the game. You might want to upgrade if you have a TV that supports it. The same thing as before, but it does charge over the internet now.

Is it worthwhile to upgrade? It is dependent on the situation. It's probably not worth the extra money if you just use your Apple TV to watch shows. It's a good upgrade if you can use the features. The new Apple TV HD is definitely worth a look if you have an older model.

The price is lower than it has been in the past. Apple is charging $129 for the 64gigabyte version, and $149 for the 128gigabyte version, which comes with Thread and a built-inEthernet port. If you have a smart home setup with Thread integration, you should go ahead and get the better model, even if you have to pay an additional $20.
