Swin Cash will have her number retired by the University of Connecticut in November. She will be the third basketball player to be honored.

Cash said in a statement that he was thankful to the University of Connecticut, his coaches and his teammates. It's still mind-blowing to know my name and number will be in the rafters. It's a shining symbol of hope to any young female baller out there wondering if she's good enough, who comes from humble beginnings, or just doesn't see a clear path. Being the best is enough.

Rebecca Lobo and Ray Allen are the only other people to have their numbers retired. The honor is reserved for alumni who are in the hall of fame.

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame will be added in 2021. Cash was the tournament's most outstanding player in 2000 and 2002 when the University of Connecticut won the NCAA title. Cash was the second pick in the 2002 draft and went on to win three league titles with Detroit and Seattle.

Cash was a member of the U.S. national team and won two gold medals. She is in charge of basketball operations and team development.

Geno Auriemma said in the statement that anyone who was around when Swin played or saw her play in person will never forget the energy that she played with, the force of her personality and the passion that she brought to everything that she did The hanging of No. 32 up in the rafters is a sign of respect from everyone here in the program and the fans around the world.
