Parts of Spain's airspace were temporarily closed due to the risk of a Chinese rocket reentering Earth's atmosphere.

The airports of Barcelona and Ibiza were affected by the ground stop.

The decision was made after the Long March 5B rocket delivered the final module of the space station.

A piece of the rocket is reentering the atmosphere.

The remnant was expected to go up in flames.

Some of the remnant, which was described as one of the largest objects to re-enter the atmosphere in recent years, may not survive.

When debris from the rocket's first launch came back down to Earth, properties inIvory Coast were damaged

According to the European Union Space Surveillance and Tracking service, the "statistical probability of an impact on the ground in populated areas is low", with the remnant expected to land in the Atlantic Ocean.

southern Italy, as well as northern Spain and Portugal were warned.

Spain's national airspace agency created an exclusion zone on either side of the rocket's path as a precautionary measure.

There is expected to be an impact on flights.

In the past, America's space agency has called on China to design rockets to break up into smaller pieces upon re-entry.
