David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, said in an earnings call that the target date for the launch of the new service would be in the spring of 2023.

The user interface of the two services is very different, with Discovery Plus likely leading in subscriptions as it had 78.6 million users before the acquisition, and the combined services now have 94.9 million subscribers. The plan of Zaslav has always been to combine the two services in order to target very different markets. While reinforcing Zaslav's view on the matter, a slide claimed that male and female users of both services were different.

Zaslav doesn't care who gets offended in his quest to make Warner Bros. Discovery a profitable company. He noted on the earnings call that the show Fixer Upper: The Castle moved into the top five most watched shows on the service after it was broadcast. The show was broadcast on the Magnolia Network.

It is Zaslav's hope that the merged app will increase subscriptions and revenue. The plan is for more money to be spent on new content. He said on the phone that they were leaning in. He noted that it was no longer about how much, it was about how good.

He mentioned the content that was pulled from WBD's services. Even the show creators were surprised by the sudden removal. WBD was directing the money saved toward new content, so we didn't take one show off the platform. If you are one of the animation creators who saw their shows disappear overnight, this is definitely not a good sign.
