People familiar with the matter say that employees are losing days off in a change to their work culture.
Two people with knowledge of the company told Insider that regular days off had been removed from employees' calendars.
The people said there has been no communication from the company's top leadership about the days off. People say that employees were left to ask their managers about the changes to their calendar. The managers confirmed that the days of rest were over.
The company's representative did not reply to the request for comment. The days were being taken away, according to a previous report.
During the first peak of the Pandemic in 2020, "days of rest" were put in place. Employees were encouraged to set days where they didn't have to meet.
The company instituted one day of rest per month where the entire company could take a day off. Any holidays or individual vacation days had these on top of them.
Musk doesn't look to avoid burnout. Workers at the two companies are known to work long hours as the billionaire tries to reach lofty goals. In the past, the CEO has said he slept on the factory floor to meet his targets.
Some employees have spent the night in the office in order to keep up with Musk's demands.
He's ordered people working on "Elon-critical projects" like getting a new subscription model for verification to work "literally 24/7." and in 12-hour shifts around the globe to get the work done on an incredibly tight timeline. People are expected to work at a "maniacal" pace and pitch new ideas to Musk if they want to keep their jobs.
According to a report from Bloomberg on Wednesday, the billionaire plans to end the remote work policy at the micro-messaging service. In June, Musk ordered employees to return to the office full time or quit. One of the first tech companies to make a permanent work-from- home policy wasTwitter.
Thousands of employees are expected to lose their jobs, along with the C-suite and many high-ranking managers.
