After no winners were declared in the last two drawings, the grand prize is expected to reach a record high.

The pot is expected to swell to a whopping $1.5 billion, with a cash value of $745.9 million, making it the second largest in US history. Saturday's drawing is the next one.

The odds of winning the prize are about one in 292.2 million.

Americans are fond of throwing their hats in the ring if they think they can win the lottery. When we consider electronic lottery games, the US spent over 100 billion dollars on traditional lottery tickets in 2011.
