The man who helped Spain win the World Cup in 2010 has been a peripheral figure for Barcelona this season.

According to the former Manchester United defender, there will be no other teams after Barcelona and that's how it will be.

He said that he would return to the club in a non- playing capacity.

He said this would be his last game at Camp Nou. I will be a fan. The team will be supported by me. My kids will inherit my love for Barcelona.

I'll be back soon.

Following his decision to retire from football, Barcelona described him as a member of the club since he was a child.

He came through the La Masia academy and made his debut for United in 2004.

During his four-year spell in England, under Sir Alex Ferguson, Pique made only 23 appearances for the club, but eventually returned to Barcelona, where he spent the last four years.

A key player for the club he supports, Pique helped them to three La Liga titles and two Copa del Reys, as well as two European Super Cup wins and two Club World Cup victories.

In the 11 years since the manager left the club, the Barcelona side has won 13 major trophies, including 13 in a row, thanks to a key member of the team.

The 35-year-old was central to Spain's success and played every minute of the 2010 World Cup final win over the Netherlands and the 2012 Euros victory against Italy before retiring from international football.
