Liam Rosenior has been named as the new head coach of Hull City.

He was a player for five seasons with the tigers.

Shota Arveladze was sacked as manager of Derby County in September and was replaced by Rosenior.

He will take charge of the team for the first time at Millwall on Saturday.

In his time at the club, Rosenior made over 100 league appearances and was part of the side that won promotion to the premier league and reached the FA cup final.

After the Seagulls won promotion to the top flight in 2017, he retired from playing.

They are one point and one place above the bottom of the table.

The club said that Andy was staying on the coaching staff and that he had won three of his seven matches.

After joining Derby as a coach under Philip Cocu, Rosenior became Wayne Rooney's assistant in January 2021.

After entering administration, the Rams were deducted 21 points and couldn't keep their place in the Championship.

Rosenior was put in charge of the team for the start of the season after Rooney left.

He oversaw a huge rebuild of the squad, with 14 new players brought in, but lost three of his 12 matches in charge.

In the first six games of the season, the tigers picked up 11 points.

After a run of four successive defeats, the former Rangers forward was sacked by the owner.

The talks with Pedro Martins were held last month, but they were unable to reach an agreement.
