Luka drops 33 points as Mavs squeak out win (1:44)

Luka Doncic scored a 30 point game to open the season. There is a time and a place for this.

It has been sixty years since the NBA saw a season- opening scoring streak like the one Luka Doncic is currently enjoying.

Since 1962, the last time a team started a season with at least 30 points in every game, it was the Dallas Mavericks. It has only been done three times before, twice by Jack Twyman and once by Chamberlain.

The league's leading scorer is Doncic. It's the third highest- scoring average through seven games in the last 60 seasons behind Michael Jordan and James Harden.

"That's rare air and we get to see that on a nightly basis," Kidd said after Doncic scored 33 points in a win over the Utah Jazz. That's great. A kid that is playing on this level is very special to watch. He can do it in many different ways, such as posting up or getting to the basket, shooting the 3, or stepping back.

It shows the focus that he has at the moment. He puts the team in position to win.

Doncic has scored at least 30 points in four of his five performances this season. This season, the NBA has combined for four such outings. Doncic's streak of 30 points or more was the longest in franchise history.

When he reported to training camp last season, he was out of shape.

Doncic said that the way he started last year wasn't acceptable. I tried to learn from that and do better this year.

Doncic, a first-team All-NBA selection the last three seasons, has often found himself on short lists of players who have hit certain statistical thresholds. He said that it seems that he is always there.

"I'm not surprised, but it's amazing, but I'm not surprised at all," Spencer said. Luka is a savant when it comes to basketball. I don't think anything shocks me. The best is yet to come. He is going to set a lot of records for the Mavs and be in the conversation with the greats.
