People who don't normally play the lottery are throwing their hats in the ring for Wednesday night's Powerball lottery.

If the prize is claimed this week, it will be the second- largest pool in the game's 30-year history. The fourth- largest lottery prize in US history is at stake.

There are other ways to become richer even if you don't win the billion dollars. We decided to break down all the ways in which you can win the lottery. Just incase.

The lotto is made up of six numbers randomly selected each week. Wednesdays and Saturdays are at 10:59 pm. There is a drawing. An automated machine spits out the winning digits after all the numbers are printed.

There are between 1 and 69 numbers. The Powerball is the last number. Between 1 and 26 is the range.

A randomly generated set of numbers can be received when players purchase a ticket. You can upgrade your tickets to "Power Play" for $1 more at the time of purchase.

If you have a winning ticket for something other than the grand prize, your cash prize will double.

The winning tickets are not the main prize. Winning tickets and cash prizes are possible.

  • Match all 5 white numbers only — $1 million
  • Match 4 out of 5 white numbers + Powerball — $50,000
  • Match 4 white numbers only — $100
  • Match 3 white numbers + Powerball — $100
  • Match 3 white numbers only — $7
  • Match 2 white numbers + Powerball — $7
  • Match 1 white number + Powerball — $4
  • Powerball only — $4

The "Power Play" bonus doesn't apply to the winning amount. If you match all five white numbers, you will win $2 million, instead of the standard $1 million. The "Power Play" bonus can be 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x.

The odds of winning any of the prizes is very low. It is less likely that you will walk away with the prize than it is to win it. Don't forget to hire a lawyer if you do get a lump sum. At least 180 days are given to players to come forward.

The next drawing is on November 19th. It's time to est.
