Kino and Andor in heated confrontation

In this episode of Andor, directed by Toby Haynes and written by Beau Willimon, the Empire is so evil that no one can run for it. The facade is almost completely stripped away as they see their true ugly side.

She is the main character of the story. The Imperial Security Bureau officer terminated her way through the witnesses she needed to reach Bix Caleen. She can't play good cop with the help of a mad scientist and an almost-as-thin-as-her lips lie. Bix called Meero out because she wouldn't believe her. The Imperial girlboss tells Bix she will pay the same price as her friend, if she doesn't change her ways.

Meero says she knows him better than Bix does. Two years ago he met a woman who said if he was serious about politics he would want to serve as the liaison for Ferrix. He received a radio unit that Bix has been using. She realized that the woman was interested in using the commercial position of Ferrix to get Imperial equipment. Bix didn't know Paak was paid to keep the radio running.

Dedra and Bix

Meero wondered why Bix would play a role as a business owner with no political affiliations. Bix told Meero to just get on with it because he knew she was just fuck with her. Meero ends her monologue by summing up what she wants to get out of Bix: more on the relationship between the buyer and the Imperials, a full account of who she got them from, and more. Paak told her Bix had at least six face to face buys and so she plans to unfurl the relationships that led to Andor.

Bix tells her that the buyer will come, he will buy, and he will leave. Bix knew she would start the torture so she did. The torture isn't physical, like that somehow makes it better, and the doctor excitedly talks about how they discovered it. When the Empire got pushed back by a sentient species on an Outer Rim moon, the Dizonites were massacred to make way for an Imperial refueling center. Their deaths were recorded as proof of the mission, and it was found that they made a noise as they died. The sound made the supervising officers insane, like a sonic wave of death felt by those who murdered them. Bix uses the sound of Dizonite children dying to make it worse. Dedra says that repeat listening causes the most damage when Bix gets her headphones on.

Bix shrieks and agonizes. By the end of it, she is sweating and puffy-eyed, but she knows how to identify herself. As an example, Paak is to be hung.

andor looks across to other level

Back in prison, Andor has been proving his craftiness with his team to make sure they don't get fried, and showing kindness by picking up slack for Ulaf, who is close to release. When they work, Andor takes a quick potty break and we get to see him chip away at a metal piece hidden behind a slat. The sight of a prisoner being lowered through an elevator platform and tortured with a stick makes Andor wonder how many guards there are.

The Emperor's Imperial overreach is opposed by those in the Senate. She sees it as an all too predictable march towards complete unquestioned authority, and they have to protect the people first, and then the power of the chamber, and she has met with boos. No one threw anything at her.

On second thought, we should have seen the big twist in the episode, which is that Vel is Mon's cousin. The rebel retreats to her high-class life to clean up like a festival she can take a break from as her function requires her to blend in. Vel assures her that the rebellion will come first as her cousin expresses apprehension over her disappearance. Mon thought they were in over their heads but Vel reminded her that they had taken a vow.

The prisoners are still communicating through sign language. Andor thinks it's resistance to being locked up, and Kino thinks it's a lie. In desperation voices, they say that no one in power cares about what they say, they just show up to clock in and turn on the power. It is easier to replace them than it is to use a robot. They are there to pick up bodies if they fall.

Partagaz updated that she got all the intel she wanted from the good doctor's sessions with Bix. The identity of the buyer is everything. The reason why everyone is being put through the wringer is due to the presence of Luthen's wig. A tight ship and one large enough to not rely on one network or supplier is what Dedra thinks is the case. Bix gave up a list of everything that came through Ferrix, and they think they have a match for the unit recovered from a safe house associated with Maya Pei. She knew Andor had money in his pocket when he came back to Ferrix three nights later. Two soldiers from the garrison identified the rebels as clean-shaven and connected him to what they know about them. Partagaz asked about Andor's mother, but Dedra said she was too old and fragile to pose a question.

The prisoners are restless as news travels from other levels of the incident that seemed to sweep down and frighten everyone. They realized that two levels were wiped out without warning. The guards don't care and they're not getting out He was told to shut up and keep his head down. The eye acting between Serkis and Luna is amazing.

Eedy is back with another Keeping Up With the Karns breakfast scene. I wish there were more kids for her to boss around because she is so cruel towards her son that he is too famous to die. Eedy wonders why her boy looks good when she accuses him that it is not because of the job he is not happy about. She said it was another woman. Eedy calls him, "The shadow of a son, a tenant, a stranger" with a deepness that cuts through the screen. We all felt that when she delivered her lines. He told her he had been promoted and then slurped his breakfast. Eedy is a doting mother after she changed her tone to pride. She may have seen the threat of Dedra's coldness.

Mon Mothma and Vel

Perrin continued his streak of being the worst over a family dinner. He told Vel that at this point she should just marry a widower. Mon deduces that many Chandrillan people have suddenly appeared on Coruscant, and that Leida, the daughter of a Chandrillan father and a Chandrillan mother, calls him her mother's old boyfriend.

Mon told Val to be a spoiled rich girl for a while and reminded everyone that she was for her protection. Mon asked her cousin what they had done and Vel reassured her that they were fighting against the dark. The juxtaposition of that moment to Bix being held captive shows that those impacted by tyranny don't have the luxury Vel has. The disparity between the allies in high places and the marginalized on the ground is shown in a rebellion.

She crosses paths with a lovelorn in the Imperial gorl power arcs. He says it was difficult to find her because he stood in the same spot for days. "I don't have the time for this," but he insists on thanking her for what she's doing, that he realized life was worth living and there was "justice and beauty in the galaxy" She pushes him away more and more. With Dedra's penchant for being horny for torture, I don't know if she's into it as well. It is possible that she is not about his take on John Hughes romantic gestures as she threatens to have him arrested and put in a cage if he attempts it again. Is she just flexing her power over him?

Syril and Dedra confrontation

She has larger people to cook with. Luthen's Imperial masking unit was used by a rebel pilot in the last episode of the show. Saw was correct to pass on it. There is a raid planned on the power station at Spellhaus according to Partagaz. Dedra suggests faking the pilot's death in order to make it look like they died on their ship. In space, no one has sex. The tension is still very high.

Mon and Tay meet up to discuss donations getting complicated and yet they don't let things get complicated in the way we want. Unless she works with Dave Sculdun, a wealthy Chandrillan thug who knows she's in the hole, she's going to have trouble. He wants to trade6753167531675316753167531675316753167531675316753167531

A med tech is sent down after Ulaf collapsed. The tech is not sure if Ulaf is Andor or Kino, he only has 40 shifts left. The tech doesn't offer much in the way of dignity. The guard was told by the med-tech that no one was going to get out. There is never more than 12 on each level. Let's take a break from Star Wars.
