Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence on a spaceship in Passengers

According to the New York Times, the Oscar winner said that she was advised not to sign on for Passengers by one of her friends. She told me not to do it. Lawrence spoke to the newspaper. She said that she thought space movies were the new vampire movies. I should have paid attention to her.

I concur. It was bad news from the beginning. A sci-fi thriller/romance tells the story of a man who wakes up early from his sleep while on a giant colony spaceship. Jim is lonely and self-obsessed, so he wakes up another passenger, Aurora, and lies to her about the malfunction of their Pods. It is gross to say the least, and the film is full of this weird stuff.

Lawrence felt that as well. She told the Times that when she saw people going to Passengers she was like, "Oh no, you guys are here because I'm here, and I'm here because you're here." Who made the decision that this was a good movie?

Lawrence had let her career go away from her. Unlike the tether that snapped when Jim tried to go into space in order to save the spaceship, she was able to reel herself back in. Her newest film, Causeway, is about an American veteran struggling to adjust to life after receiving a traumatic brain injury in Afghanistan.
