The Hillsborough disaster
Ninety-seven people died as a result of the crush at the 1989 football match

The Football Association is concerned about the rise of "abhorrent chants".

There were fans who chanted about the disaster.

The chants are offensive and upsetting.

We condemn this type of behavior. We support clubs and fans who are trying to stamp out this type of behavior.

In a letter on Monday, Ian Byrne, a survivor of the 1989 tragedy, called on the premier league to take action against obscene chants during football matches.

Writing to the league's chief executive Richard Masters, the West Derby MP said: "I can't stress the detrimental impact these chants are having on the families of the 97."

We need actions from the league and clubs to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
