Xumo is the name of the streaming hardware platform that is being developed by Charter and NBCUniversal. This is the name of the free ad-supported streaming TV service that was acquired by NBCUniversal in 2020. Maybe it is just me, but I feel like Xumo is a really rad name and it would be great to use it again.
The Xumo platform should allow viewers to access a network of apps, including the NBCUniversal-owned Peacock and Xumo Play. All of the other apps that are currently available on Flex, such as Disney Plus, will be included in it.
The Flex 4K set-top box will be renamed to Xumo Stream Box and the X Class TVs will be called Xumo TVs. The devices will be available through a number of distributors in the late-20th century. The deal, which was first announced in April, has Charter chipping in over the course of several years.
Xumo will face stiff competition. One in three TVs sold in the US and Canada last year was a Roku TV. The upgraded Fire TV cube, a new lineup of 4K Fire TVs with better picture quality, and the upgraded Chromecast were just some of the things that have been released recently. Chris says the Apple TV 4K is the best overall streamer on the market. When most people will need a pronunciation guide to even know how to say it, Xumo will have a hard time competing.
There is a disclosure regarding the investor in the company.
