Sometimes it seems like every hour, Musk is giving out new ideas on what to do with the social network, with little evidence as to what is actually happening.
At least one new major feature is coming soon, though it's not clear if Musk came up with it.
A feature that would allow users to post videos and put them behind a paywall was described in an internal email. A brief internal review is needed before the feature can go out. It's not clear if it was Musk's idea or if it was conceived before he came on board.
The feature is described in an email. Once a paywall is enabled, the creator can choose from one of the preset prices, such as $1, $2, $5, or $10 The video wouldn't be visible to another user if they paid the requested amount. The creator of the video would get money via Stripe, but there's no word on how much. People who don't pay for the video will still be able to like or re-post the message.
The first thing that comes to mind with a feature like this is pornography, and The Washington Post spoke to an unnamed Twitter employee who said it would at least partially be used for adult content. According to a recent report by the news agency, as much as 13 percent of the content on the micro-messaging site is not safe for work.
There are risks related to copyrighted content, creator/ user trust issues, and legal compliance mentioned in the email.

The Washington Post says that there was no comment from the social media company. Although he didn't mention it by name, Musk recently said that the company wants to reward content creators.
Following Musk's acquisition of the service, it is possible that paywalled video is one of many new features. Among Musk's ideas are to bring back the long-abandoned video sharing service, to extend the allowed length of videos on the platform, and to remove the character limit on the social network. A blue checkmark, which has been used to verify a user's real-life identity, will be included in the price of the paid tier of the service.
