One is a footballer in the premier league who has scored 22 goals in 15 games and the other is a region known for its beaches.

Completely unalike but online they are confused.

A simple spelling mistake means anyone searching for Halland on the Swedish coast is likely to find a lot of photos of Erling Haaland.

The head of the tourist board in Sweden has had enough.

Jimmy Sandberg wrote an open letter asking English people, journalists and football fans to hit the spellcheck before sending.

Halland is our name. Haaland is his name. The football craze is suffocating our online presence.

All of our efforts to promote Halland are being wiped out.

The region is at risk of becoming a forgotten Atlantis if nothing is done.

When you write in Halland, you can find Haaland all over the place.

We have been overwhelmed by the presence of Haaland since he arrived at Manchester City.

If you need help telling the difference between the two, we have a cheat sheet you can refer to.

  • Haaland (double "a", single "l") - footballer usually seen scoring goals for Manchester City
  • Halland (double "l", single "a") - region in Sweden just south of Gothenburg

The two may be mixed up even more, as Sandberg extended his invitation to Haaland in a bid to resolve the issue for once and for all.

He said they would love to have him here. He would feel right at home because a lot of Norwegians come here.

Is it possible to see you next summer in Haaland?
