'I love the Isle of Man TT, just not as much as my kids'

Glenn said he had to make the best decision for his family after he left Honda.

He will return to the event next year after winning three races for the team.

He won't be taking part in the Isle of Man TT because he wants to win a British title.

"I love doing the event, but I don't love the event as much as my kids."

The races of the Isle of Man TT this year were marred by the deaths of six competitors and the fastest newcomer in the event's history.

As a father of soon-to-be three children, the risk element at British Superbikes is less than what it is with road racing.

The dangers of the TT outweigh the dangers of other events.

Six people lost their lives in my first year and I don't want that to happen to me.

"Maybe one day in the future we can go back but right now my kids are hanging off my knees and that is the most important thing for me."

Perfect time to join Ducati

Team owner Paul Bird approached Irwin prior to the final round of the season at Brands Hatch and he said he discussed moving teams with his brother Andrew and his partner Laura.

After three seasons at Honda, the Northern Irishman switched to Kawasaki, where he won his fifth North West victory and was runner-up in the title.

The North West 200 is a race that takes place in May around the north coast of Northern Ireland.

He said that the fact that Paul Bird did not run a Ducati at the road race made his decision easier because Laura was pregnant with their third child.

He said British Superbikes is what puts the corn on the table for him and his family.

I couldn't decline my best chance to win the British Superbikes because he wouldn't go to the TT, so I made the decision.

"As much as I want to be there and continue the good work, I absolutely love the place, it's the right thing for Glenn."

The brand might be a bit richer, but that doesn't mean anything to me. It's not about money, it's about winning races.

Since Josh Brookes won the title for the team in 2020, PBM have only won four races.

The timing is perfect for him to rejoin his former team even though he is comfortable at Honda.

He says that before Bird made contact, he had no intention of leaving.

It was not easy toWeighing it up. They have been great to work with.

It wasn't easy to walk away from that, we had a lot of success, including the fastest newcomer at the Isle of Man TT, a large number of BSB wins, and only 21 points shy of winning the title.

Due to the second part of this year and getting over my shoulder injury, I feel like I'm ready to win a title.

PBM are the most successful team in the british snobber I think it's a blip, it's not how they've been in the past.

At a point in my career, I have that inner belief that they want to win.

The next thing I want to do is win the British Superbike Championship. I believe we can win again.
