nudity is now allowed on the platform, but not sexually explicit images.
The company updated its guidelines earlier today, laying out a set of rules that stops short of its earlier permissive attitude towards sexuality, but that formally allows a wider range of imagery. Content depicting the human form, including the naked human form, can now be found on the website. Even if your creations contain nudity, mature subject matter, or sexual themes, you can now use the appropriate community label to share them on the internet. Depictions of sexually explicit acts aren't allowed on the site.
The community guidelines give a little more detail. Text, images, and videos that contain nudity, offensive language, sexual themes, or mature subject matter are not allowed on the site. There is an exception forhistorically significant art that you may find in a mainstream museum and which depicts sex acts, such as from India's uga Empire.
Nudity and other types of adult material are acceptable. We are not here to judge your art, we just ask that you add a community label to your mature content so that people can choose to remove it from their dashboard if they prefer. Users can't post links or ads to adult oriented networks, they can't advertise erotic services, and they can't post content that promotes pedophilia.
The company that sold the company to Automattic was the one that banned adult content on the site. The CEO of Automattic said in late September that it wasn't possible to overturn the ban completely because internet infrastructure services frown on explicit adult content. However, Mullenweg said he hoped to bring the policy more in line with that ofWordPress.com, which offers less protection for nudity in art.
