The film introduces an entire new world thanks to the Talocan, as well as bringing back dozens of characters from the first film, and it also introduces the star of Disney+ show Ironheart.
The character is called Riri Williams. Adding another character to an already packed movie may seem excessive. The idea to give Williams her own show only came after this movie, according to the producer, who spoke to io9 recently.
Moore said that it was important to introduce her here. Thematically, she is a character who has experienced loss in her path with her mother. We like the idea of her as a black woman in America. She has a different point of view than Killmonger. We love the idea of a woman who is smart but not as smart as Shuri. She was part of the fabric of the film.
Williams becomes an important part of the film, acting as a crucial link between Wakanda and the Talocan, and then also having an arcs taking her from college genius to burgeoning superhero, as you can see in the trailers.
It wasn't until Williams began weaving into the DNA of the movie that they realized there could be more. She was going to have a show when we were writing the movie. This is a really compelling character. There are more stories to be told.
It should be clear once Ironheart hits Disney+ that everything that happens in the movie will affect what happens in the future. She became a hero because of what she saw in the movie, Moore said. She is going to find out in the show that it is easier to go back to MIT as a 21-year-old than it is as a 20-year-old.
You can meet Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda forever. Ironheart doesn't have a release date, but it's possible that it will be in the early to mid-20th century.
