Muscadin, who played for Kansas and New Mexico, died from injuries he sustained in a crash.
Bill Self made the announcement in a statement.
Although only one year, Gethro was loved and liked by all and will always be remembered as a Jayhawk. We wish his family and friends the best.
Muscadin moved to the U.S. in 2006 to pursue a career in basketball. Muscadin was a four-star prospect who had scholarship offers from a number of high-major programs.
During the 2020-21 season, the center played in 11 games for the Jayhawks, including a loss to USC in the NCAA tournament. Muscadin started nine of 12 games for the Lobos last season before he left the program.
He was involved in a single-vehicle crash in the early hours of New Year's Eve.
